MR & MRS SMITH (2005)

THE AWFUL TRUTH meets THE MAN (AND WOMAN) FROM UNCLE in this joyless, overproduced, mean-spirited action comedy about married spies assigned to take each other out. The big joke is that they are so undercover, neither knows that their spouse is a spook. Yuck, yuck. Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie look glam shooting at each for about 40 minutes, screwing for one minute, then shooting at everyone on their tail for 40 minutes more. (A very American time management ratio, no?) Vince Vaughan hangs around, making wry comments a la Bill Murray in TOOTSIE, but no one bothers to wrap up a single a plot line. In the sequel, they have a baby and shoot at that.
