INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH KEATON (2005)

A double-disc compilation with previously available material in upgraded transfers on Disc One (though only Keaton’s superb short, THE PLAYHOUSE, the one with the multiple Busters, at last in full uncropped glory, showing much improvement) and the real finds on Disc Two which collects appearances from tv (a priceless sign postering sketch which Keaton must have performed in his famous career lifting Medrano Circus gig in Paris; watch for wife Eleanor Keaton’s nice bit), a whole series of adorable/funny Alka-Seltzer ads, along with some dandy beer ads that make you think twice knowing Buster’s alcoholic tendencies, and three industrials including the remarkable Phoenix set magnum opus, THE HOME OWNER, which was produced by Jack (SHADOW OF A DOUBT) Skirball & shot by Leo (DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL) Tover. Awfully classy credits for an industrial, no? Watch Buster show off his Oscar in this one.
