THE ARISTOCRATS (2005)

Paul Provenza & Penn Jillette’s docu-pic on the "dirtiest joke of all time" has only modest success telling the infamous joke (an unspeakable family act calls itself "The Aristocrats," ta-dum) or in detailing its history and influence. But it’s worth sticking out the yawnable first half to hear a few wildly effective versions, mostly by lesser known comedians. Billy the Mime (of all people) scores big and Larry Storch tries out a surprisingly doable PG-rated variant. It’s really just a scatological "Shaggy Dog" story, but go to Special Features to hear a far better classic that was Johnny Carson’s favorite.
