ENTER THE DRAGON (1973)

Martial arts phenom Bruce Lee’s grab for the big brass ring is not the expected Grade A "chop-socky" pic, but a Grade B James Bond wannabe (heavy on the DOCTOR NO). It never adds up dramatically (co-star John Saxon, here the missing link between Burt Reynolds and George Clooney, has a full backstory that disappears), but the karate action is fun, fast and furious. Lee really did have a gift for executing the moves with deadly/gleeful calm before the fury, and a unique vocal obbligato to underline the crunches.
