BORN INTO BROTHELS (2004)

Zana Briski & Ross Kauffman ’s award-winning documentary about a group of kids living in Calcutta’s Red Light district is both superb & disturbing. Shot in the most difficult of circumstances (technically/socially/ culturally), the wild-flower growing amongst the trash scenario is moving and compelling while "Auntie Zana and her camera-toting urchins are, frankly, adorable. But should we really be having such a feel-good experience on account of a few lucky souls (It's Queen For A Day - Calcutta Edition), while tens of thousands aren’t lucky enough to grab a documentarian’s attention & support?
