CHARLIE (2005)

In ‘60s London, there was "mod" & there was the mob. Here, it’s not the Krays, but the lesser known Richardsons whose leader was the eponymous Charlie. Playing him, Luke Goss is unconvincing as threat or presence, shouting his way through scene after scene and still getting lost amidst the overacting throng and a narrative structure that’s all loose ends. Writer/director Malcomb Needs throws every MTV editing/visual/continuity trick at us, hoping to obfuscate the thrice-cooked nature of this GOODFELLAS wannabee. He must have been classmates with Guy Ritchie.
