DON’T CHANGE YOUR HUSBAND (1919)

A standard entry in the Cecil B. De Mille cache of marital battle-of-the-sexes comedies which often came out in matched titles. (The previous year brought OLD WIVES FOR NEW and the following gave us WHY CHANGE YOUR WIFE. - https://maksquibs.blogspot.com/2008/05/why-change-your-wife-1920.html) Gloria Swanson stars as the bored wife of an all-business type (Elliot Dexter) whom she leaves for the womanizing Lew Cody only to find he’s even worse. Meanwhile, Dexter has shaved his moustache and even stopped munching on scallions so as to win back the wife he never appreciated until she left. Even with some amazing costume changes for the ladies and a modest allegorical period flashback sequence for Gloria to play, this is pretty run-of-De-Mille stuff.
