After four-plus decades, this omnibus film still hosts three duds and three (okay, two & a half) gems. Woody’s turns as court jester & horror film victim have some funny lines, but never hit their stride, while the brief game show (“What’s My Perversion”) isn’t brief enough. But Lou Jacobi’s transvestism, Tony Randall’s brainy “Erection Central” and, especially, Gene Wilder’s sheepish love-that-dare-not speak-its-name make for some truly wonderful burlesque.
SCREWY THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Has anyone ever noticed that Philip Roth (in THE BREAST) and Edward Albee (in THE GOAT) may have been inspired here? (2015 Addendum: And for the folks at Pixar, a smut-filled INSIDE OUT in the last sketch.
